Purpose of the Award
Virginia Chapter Foundation is committed to enhancing higher educational opportunities for qualified graduates of the Central Virginia community. It is our desire that through financial assistance, a deserving young person who might not otherwise be afforded the opportunity will gain advanced educational training. It is our hope that with education, the individual will be able and inspired to contribute to the betterment of their community, their state, and the world.
The scholarship application is available to current Central Virginia high school students. Students who meet the criteria below are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school within the [TODO: county/region] area.
- Applicant must have been accepted by a four-year accredited college/university or trade school.
- Applicant must have completed 20 hours of community service.
- Applicant must write a 500-word essay on: "What does ACHIEVEMENT mean to you?"
- Applicant must submit a recent photograph.
- Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Selection Process
- Applications must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than the published deadline.
- Finalists will be invited for a personal interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee. Finalists will be notified by phone with date, time, and location details.
- The scholarship winner and their high school will be notified by letter.
Basis of Award
Recipients will be chosen based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities (in and outside of school), character, personality, leadership qualities, and overall potential for attainment of a post-secondary degree or trade school certification.
