Honoring a Legacy
Achievement is the most important goal of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. This scholarship honors the legacy of a revered brother whose life personified achievement through service, leadership, and commitment to community. Purpose of the Award
Virginia Chapter Foundation is committed to enhancing higher educational opportunities for qualified graduates within the Central Virginia area. Through this scholarship, we seek to support a young man who demonstrates the same dedication to leadership and service that defined the scholarship's namesake.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school within the [TODO: county/region] area and an active member of the chapter's Guide Right Program.
- Applicant must have been accepted by a four-year accredited college/university or trade school.
- Applicant must have completed 20 hours of community service.
- Applicant must write a 500-word essay on: "What does LEADERSHIP mean to you?"
- Applicant must submit a recent photograph.
- Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Selection Process
- Applications must be received by the Scholarship Committee no later than the published deadline.
- Finalists will be invited for a personal interview conducted by the Scholarship Committee.
- Scholarship winners and their high schools will be notified by letter.
Basis of Award
Recipients will be chosen based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities (in and outside of school), character, personality, leadership qualities, and overall potential for attainment of a post-secondary degree or trade school certification.
